How
Are ND's Trained?
Naturopathic
Doctors take a minimum of three years pre-medical studies at university,
followed by four years of full-time studies at a recognized college
of naturopathic medicine. The education encompasses basic medical
and clinical sciences, naturopathic principles and therapeutics,
and 1500 hours of supervised clinical experience. Graduates must
pass rigorous Ontario and North American board exams in order to
be eligible to practice as a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine. Naturopathic
medicine has been regulated in Ontario since 1925 under the Drugless
Practitioners Act.
